Mahmoud Hassan is a banking, consulting and private equity operations professional with more than 20 years of experience in multinational and developmental financial institutions.

Mahmoud is the Managing Director of Sharaka Capital Management, which is mandated to manage the Sharaka Capital Fund sponsored by the Middle East Investment Initiative (MEII) and covering five MENA countries: Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia.

Mahmoud previously worked within the Global Private Equity Group of International Finance Corporation (IFC), member of the World Bank Group (WBG), managing Small and Medium Funds.  He has been heavily involved in early stage and entrepreneurial ecosystem development for the MENA region.

Additionally, Mahmoud worked within the Banking Advisory Services of the Financial Institutions Group of IFC-WBG. He led various programmatic and large-scale projects in FCS markets including Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon, and Palestine in addition to other emerging and developed markets including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Jordan.

Prior to the WBG, Mahmoud worked for more than 14 years in consulting, capital markets and banking industries with Ernst & Young and private sector banks in the MENA region, including Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, and Jordan.

Mahmoud holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Ain Shams University in Cairo. He has also completed his CFE, CIA and PMP certifications over the course of his professional career.
